World Youth Day  2011


A pilgrimage to gather with Pope Benedict XVI and young people from around 
the world. For youth and young adults, aged 16 to 35.

 

Plans are underway to send 25 pilgrims from the diocese to World Youth Day in Madrid, Spain, in August 2011. Our 15-day pilgrimage will include day excursions to Avila, Segovia and Toledo. For more information, contact Adam DiFelice at

Mission Statement:


“Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the
name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to
observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always,
until the end of the age” (Matthew 28: 19-20).
 
We have been called:

To be zealous apostles within our world. To lead one another into closer
relationship with Jesus. To speak the truth with courage.

We are committed:

To this baptismal call. To serving the Church in Her greatest need. To
empowering the members of the Diocese of Thunder Bay to lead our teens
closer to Christ.   

Our Role:

We are a resource for you, the members of the Diocese of Thunder Bay.

For example:

                * How can I start up something for the youth in my parish?

                * What is already going on that I can tap into?

Xt3 (Christ in the Third Millenium) - a Catholic social network site. Born out of the celebration of World Youth Day in Sydney 2008, this site was created in response to young people’s growing preference to communicate through a safe online environment. With more than 40,000 profiles reaching almost 200 countries, Xt3.com is already in the top 10 Catholic social networks in the world. It’s more than a social network — so good even the Pope uses it!

Project Mommy. Life Support group at St. Patrick’s High School asks Thunder Bay parishes to consider accepting donation boxes to support single mothers in need (the girls in the maternity group at St. Patrick’s High School). Parishioners can use the canisters and boxes to donate money or baby supplies (diapers, powdered formula, used baby clothes, etc.) For more information, call Debbie DeBruyne (807) 346-1266 or (807) 625-8377.

TEC, Teens Encounter Christ organizes two or three weekend retreats a year for persons age 16 and over. Participants will grow, through experiencing the love of our heavenly Father, to a deeper level in their faith. Life Teen is a non-profit Catholic youth ministry which trains personnel and supplies parishes with all they need for youth ministry. There are various leader training programs available throughout North America.
