Holy Cross Elementary School’s 391 students raised $3,100 to help earthquake relief efforts in Haiti. Students who made donations to the "Hearts for Haiti" campaign got a red heart painted on their faces. The project culminated today with a prayer service and a cheque presentation to two representatives from the Red Cross.

The prayer service, held at noon in the school gym, featured a slide show of the devastation in Haiti. Students also learned about how groups such as Foster Parents Plan are helping Haitian children and about what Jesus taught about being a good neighbour.

Large red paper hearts and the words "Hearts for Haiti" decorated the walls.
