Fr. Allan Savage’s bilingual skills will help him in his new role as pastor of St. Patrick’s Parish in downtown Quebec City.
"Bishop Colli has graciously agreed to release me to minister in Quebec City. This is in response to a need among English-speaking Catholics in that city," Fr. Allan says.
The priest is expected to return to the Diocese of Thunder Bay after three years.
Ordained in Timmins in 1975, Fr. Allan came to the Diocese of Thunder Bay in 1982. He was invited by Bishop John O’Mara to fill a need in high school chaplaincy.
Over the past 28 years, Fr. Allan has ministered as a school chaplain, a hospital chaplain, the head of the Marriage Tribunal, and pastor of St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Thunder Bay, and Immaculate Conception Parish, Ignace. In the late 1980s, Fr. Allan was Director of the Diocesan RENEW program which allowed him visit every parish in the diocese. He has been Director of the Adult Faith Office and Resource Library for the past five years during which time he has facilitated various Adult Faith courses.
The Library and Resource Centre at the Catholic Pastoral Centre will remain open under the direction of volunteer Sherley-Ann Smith.
