Grade 8 Confirmation preparation sessions are taking place in the Catholic schools this year! The Diocese of Thunder Bay and Thunder Bay Catholic District School Board have partnered to prepare grade 8 students to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation during the school day as an extension of their Religious Education Curriculum. All Senior Elementary Catholic schools: Bishop Gallagher, Bishop E.Q. Jennings and Pope John Paul II are participating. This venture also seeks to strengthen the triad of and connection between Home-School-Church. Furthermore, Confirmation will be celebrated as a school-faith community allowing students to celebrate with their classmates. The Northside (Bishop Gallagher & Bishop E.Q.Jennings) celebration will take place on May 3, 2024 at 12:30pm in St. Patrick’s Cathedral. The Southside (Pope John Paul II) celebration will take place on May 24, 2024, at 12:30pm in St. Patrick’s Cathedral. This comes with the blessing of Bishop Colli. His Excellency has also added in a third celebration to take place on Pentecost Sunday, May 19, 2024, at St Patrick’s Cathedral at 10:30 am for all other candidates in our Diocese.
